Are you in doubt to uninstall W3 Total Cache plugin safely from your website? In this video tutorial, I will show you how to safely deactivate W3TC plugin with 2 methods. First, when you can log in to your admin dashboard, and second when you cannot log in, but you have an access to your WordPress files on your server. Be it with cPanel or using a FTP client.

W3 Total Cache plugin was one of my best website plugins that I also personally used in the past, before I move to SiteGround web host. SG has their own cache plugin so I am now using their custom managed cache plugin in my website. One of more advantage using SG, less plugin to use, and they offer free site migration, test them out.

If you don’t use SG, W3 Total Cache is a great plugin to speed up your WP website. So this video does not show whether this plugin is bad or good but if you need this solution, I hope this tutorial to uninstall W3 Total Cache plugin can help you. Leave a comment if it does or it does not 😀

I even recorded a tutorial how to setup MaxCDN with this plugin a few months ago, because it is very easy to use and compatible with MaxCDN.

Before you following the video

Please do backup your whole website first before you follow this video. Always having a backup of your website is very important. It may need a few minute works, but when something we don’t want happening, we do have our website’s backup, better be prepared than be sorry.

To help you about the content of the video, I split the video into 2 sections;

When you are logged in

  1. Backup your W3 Total Cache’s setting in a .json file format, so you can use the setting again if you re-enable the plugin
  2. Disable CDN if you use one
  3. Deactivate and removing the plugin inside the dashboard, and from your server.

When you cannot log in to your dashboard

  1. Accessing your webserver
  2. Going to where the plugin is located on your web server
  3. Removing the plugin itself, and the left-over files

I hope at the end of the video, you will be able to uninstall W3 Total Cache safely from your website.
