Account Suspended – My blog or This Account Has Been Suspended
May 25th, 2011 would be unforgettable day for me, because apart of being 10 years married to my Husband, my hosting account suspended, this blog has been suspended by JustHost, which is my blog webhosting provider.
How I was surprised, but I was surprised not because of my blog was suspended but because I already knew this kind of issue would happen one day.
So it was like I was getting the time bomb exploding, an issue which I was always afraid of, happens in the same day, where I should celebrate my 10th years marriage anniversary.
I actually did not know when “Account Suspended” was happening, my day went usual as a housewife and blogger.
After we had lunch (me and my kids), as usual I checked my blog, and I felt like I was slapped hard when I see account suspended, this account has been suspended message.
I knew it would happen someday, but never thought “Account Suspended” issue happened this soon..
Account Suspended – Why “This account has been suspended” message appear?
I have known some people or bloggers who get this problem before, especially with JustHost, so I was aware, that it will happen to me next, and I was right.
After I saw the account suspended – this account has been suspended message, I did not do anything , I did not try to contact JustHost or anything but I planned to wait while taking care of my kids in that day.
Around two hours later after I saw that message (about 15.00 o’clock) I checked my email and surely, I got an email account suspended from JustHost, and basically I passed the ‘10% CPU/Memory/MySQL Policy’ of JustHost.com. (related: JustHost vs HostGator)
Then I opened a ticket and ask whether I could do the backup of the whole sites (I already backed up my database daily, but still, to be 100% sure).
JustHost support people (not in the live chat) are always helpful so far, so they asked for my wan IP and let me backing up the whole thing, eventhough via FTP and it needed forever to backup, since my cPanel datas shows “data error” when I logged in thee to backup directly from cPanel.
And then I immediately went to my VPS account and planned to move this blog there, while emailing back and forth with JustHost supports.
Finally I got an email which says, that I should optimize my wordpress blog again to avoid this account suspended -this account has been suspended thing in the future.
I was like, “huh, I did optimize my blog, installing cache plugin, compressing images before I upload them, use minimal images, and so forth..”
What did fix my “Account Suspended – This Account Has Been Suspended JustHost” issue?
Receiving 4000-5000 visitors daily, was my first suspicion on the cause why I was suspended. Then after receiving that email, I delete most of plugins, especially the typepad spam plugin (see akismet alternative post), and conditional captcha plugin. Because I also had the feelings that before I installed those two plugin, I have never been suspended and now it happened after I installed them.
Not sure if they are really the cause but now I am only using 9 essential plugins (see must have plugins) and then my site went alive again.
JustHost has been my first recommendation of a sharing hosting if you want to start a blog with limited budget. (related: recommended webhosting wordpress).
It has been very nice host, but I notice this blog grows bigger..
I will update this account suspended post after moving to VPS server.
You’re not the first person I’ve seen that has been hit with tons of traffic (or in many cases – spam) after adding one of those plugins.
Now I understand what the unlimited means in HostGator. I read some post arguing ‘Unlimited’ does not exist, its just selling trick, but you don’t have to face this problem if you were in HostGator. Oh! Yea, there is inode limitation in hostGator too!
Hi Suresh!
I am using HostGator too, but haven’t found any problems yet, but Hesham from FB said he already moved to VPS or dedicated server because his blog grows bigger..
I am now already in VPS although I really liked JustHost for being so great hosting of mine thus far, but this blog needs a bigger server, apparently..
Thanks for commenting, come overs oon 😀
i was using a cheap hosting earlier, on the first year it was alright, but when it was 2 months before renew, my hosting provider started complaining that CPU usage is high although he do not show resource usage in cpanel, and i was damn sure that my resource usage is much more less than 10%. One day he suspended my a/c. I was mad as i just started gaining traffic after so much of promotion and hardwork and his actions made me badly embarrassed. Then i asked him to give me 2 days of time so that i can optimize the code. In the meantime, i contacted another hosting provider, updated my nameservers and said asta-la-vista to him. lol.
